Throughout the academic year, we provide a rich programme of curriculum-linked educational visits, visitors, workshops and experiences designed to enhance learning, broaden horizons and bring the curriculum to life. Our carefully planned enrichment programme extends well beyond the classroom, encompassing personal development, pastoral support, outdoor learning and community engagement. This ensures that the Marus Bridge curriculum remains ambitious, innovative and responsive to the needs of all learners.

We are committed to developing well-rounded young people who are prepared for life in modern Britain. Through our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and the No Outsiders programme, pupils develop a strong understanding of British values, equality, diversity and protected characteristics. They learn to respect and celebrate different cultures, beliefs and backgrounds, helping them to become confident, responsible and inclusive members of society.

Outdoor learning is a significant part of our enrichment offer. Through Forest School provision, all pupils have opportunities to develop resilience, teamwork, problem-solving skills and an appreciation of the natural environment. We have also begun to utilise Forest School as a targeted intervention to support vulnerable pupils and those with SEND socially and emotionally, with the aim of improving both wellbeing and wider outcomes across the curriculum.

Alongside this, our Sunshine Room provision enables us to work closely with families to provide tailored support, adjustments and adaptations where needed, ensuring that all pupils can access and benefit fully from our extensive personal development programme.

Our pupils benefit from a diverse range of enrichment opportunities, including theatre performances, life education workshops, educational visitors, residential experiences, sporting events, Healthy Living Week and a wide variety of extra-curricular clubs. These include sports, music, the arts and many other activities that help pupils discover and develop their talents, interests and aspirations. Educational visits and residential experiences further enrich learning by building cultural capital and connecting classroom learning to the wider world.

Developing active and responsible citizens is central to our vision. Initiatives such as our Empathy for the Elderly Harvest Appeal provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to contribute to their local community through fundraising, donations and charitable action. Through these experiences, children learn the importance of compassion, service and making a positive difference to the lives of others.

Pastoral care remains a key strength of the school. Pupils know where to go for support and consistently report feeling safe, valued and listened to. Staff have a strong understanding of individual needs and work closely with families to ensure that every child is supported to thrive both academically and personally.

We recognise that the cost of providing high-quality enrichment opportunities continues to rise, with expenses such as transport, insurance, admissions and workshop charges increasing significantly. We are therefore extremely grateful for the support and contributions of our families, which help us to sustain and enhance these valuable experiences for our pupils.

As a school, we subsidise every enrichment activity to keep costs to parents and carers as low as possible. We are also fortunate to receive significant financial support from the Friends of Marus Bridge Association, whose fundraising makes a considerable contribution towards many of the enrichment opportunities offered throughout the year. Without this support, many of these experiences would not be possible.

At Marus Bridge, we firmly believe that every child deserves access to a rich, inspiring and memorable primary school experience. We strive to ensure that pupils leave us with the knowledge, skills, cultural capital and character needed for future success.
