Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the new academic year and a huge Marus Bridge welcome to our new families. I hope you enjoyed some rest in the warm weather over the summer and that your children have enjoyed their first week back in school with their new teachers. They look very smart and settled in class and have set a high standard from the first day, for which we (and I know you) will feel very proud!
Today I spoke to the children in assembly about the passing of Queen Elizabeth and ascension to the throne of King Charles. Teachers have followed this up in class, to reassure, answer any questions and discuss/celebrate the Queen’s life together. As a whole school community, we offer our deepest condolences and respect to the royal family in this period of mourning. If I receive any updates from the Department for Education that may impact school in any way, I will communicate them to you immediately.
Reminders for the start of the school year:
Attendance
Excellent attendance impacts greatly on pupil outcomes. We are aiming to return to the high levels of attendance we had pre-pandemic and thank you for your support on this. The pastoral team have been working on some exciting ways of rewarding strong attendance – check out the PM post from earlier today!
Meet the Teacher
Please join your child’s teacher next week for their meet the teacher session. As well as a chance to find out key information, it’s a chance to ask any questions too. Details shared from teachers via SeeSaw.
School Lunches
Don’t forget that from Early Years to Year 2 school lunches are free and from Y3 onwards extremely good value! They are tasty, well-balanced and save a bit of time for us parents too. They are definitely worth giving a try - if you have any questions, give the office a call. J
Plea for Parking
Please do not park across local residents’ driveways. A neighbour of ours was unable to leave his house in an emergency this week due to his car being blocked in on the drive. I completely understand that it can be tight around the roads, but please be considerate and don’t forget that Sainsbury’s is also an option and a very short walk away. Our 'Walk to School' badges are an incentive for children to walk, which they love to collect.
Marus Bridge PTA
The next meeting is on Monday at 5pm. A big thanks to those parents who have stepped forward to join us on the comittee - it means a lot. If you think you can help or just want to find out a bit more, bob in for a brew and a biscuit next week!
Looking forward to catching up with you all on the gate and around school over the coming weeks,
Mr Aldridge
